Thumbs up

I'm browsing on ebay and checking Craigs List for the moment.

Anyone have a usable 850/900/1800/1900 Quad or Tri Mode GSM Cell they'd want to sell or lend me for a couple of weeks?

I would suggest simply buying one while you are there. Try Virgin Mobile, it's who we use in London and have the phones for several years now. No service plan, pay as you go. The basic phones are dirt cheap if not free and you simply top up as needed. Most major retailer's sell the top up cards, very simple. And the calling rates back to the US aren't too bad either.

If not Virgin, there are likely a numbers of providers (O2 etc) who offer similar service.

Thanks - the Virgin retailers here in the states don't offer much if any advice about service on the other side of the pond. Is there a "Wally World" or equivalent in Dublin - out first stop?

If there is, stay away!! And yes, the Virgin folks here in the states are useless when it comes to Virgin across the pond. My wife got a basic Nokia phone for something like 10 pounds in London, plus a 20 pound top up card. So basically what you'd pay for something used here in the states. Now the phone will not work back here in the states but for the price, it will serve its purpose for a week or two. I splurged and got a Motorola RAZR for something like 80 pounds but we are over there at least once a year so they get used repeatedly. Never been to Ireland, a real shame as often as we are in the UK. Already locked into Paris this summer so won't make it this year either. My son had to choose between French or Spanish in school, so we bribed him by promising that if he took French, we'd take him to Paris. And no, we are not going to Disney World Paris!

Just pop into a Carphone Warehouse when you land in Ireland. There should be one in the airport and grab a PAYG phone. Dirt cheap. Throw away really!

Check them out here........>> CarphoneWarehouse

CarphoneWarehouse Ireland

You'll need this link instead. Turns out the Brit CPW is different from the Ireland one. Makes sense really!!!

Sorry for the misguided info earlier.

Thanks for the support on the Marathon.
