On the one hand, it's a bit of scam to generate revenue.
How's it a scam? Is BMW duping us into driving their nice cars at excessive speeds?

Better yet - the law is actually giving money back to BMW.....not it's a CONSPIRACY

Obviously the town is running a scam to screw out of towners. Tuxedo is pretty infamous for this. Bastards.

They have been doing this in Tuxedo since I was a kid (I am 40+ now) and before. Every time I went camping in the Catskills as a teenager my Dad would tell me not to speed in Tuxedo, and then tell me how he got tickets up there all the time when he was young.

Excellent outcome. $150 is nothing compared to hassle with the insurance rates, etc. On the one hand, it's a bit of scam to generate revenue. However, what if you couldn't "cut a deal?" You were guilty afterall. I really don't mind this sort of questionable practice as it has worked in my favor as well. A few years ago, I got a ticket for 39 in a 25, which is a Special Enforcement Zone here, thus a higher penalty. I was guilty, so in a "fair system," I would have had to take the points + $140 fine. As it turns out, they busted it down to a non-moving violation and charged me $196. It's a game, and you've gotta pay to play sometimes.
The scam is that being not guilty of the offence David's only real option was to work to get it reduced to a parking ticket. I wasn't close enough behind to tell for sure but I seriously doubt he was going 40 let alone 50 right there. They know people have a fear of accumulating points and take advantage of that. Don't know how much the $ amount for 53 in a 35 was it less than the 150?

Oh. My bad. I guessed he probably was speeding. If it's a trumped up charge, then that's another story. I was glad to make a deal in that I was gulity and the difference in guilty of speeding and guilty of a non-moving violation was $56.

There must have been a weird sound coming from the windshield at that speed

No sound at 100,000 MPH. The sound waves can't get to your ears.

At that speed, sound is the last thing I really care.
