The Story in LA Times
David Deng is accused of running a fraudulent military recruitment center in Temple City, where he charged Chinese nationals a fee to join a "special forces reserve" unit that he said would help their chances of becoming U.S. citizens...
Authorities allege that Deng charged members of his "army" $300 to $450 to join plus an annual $120 renewal fee...
FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the investigation began three years ago after local police began noticing that some people pulled over during traffic stops produced fake military identifications...

Yep! You know what's good though? At least this guy was not in the real military - something tells me he'd be a whole lot more dangerous, had he actually joined and been promoted to a high-ranking officer. People like him shouldn't even be prosecuted via civil channels - he should just get thrown to some real military personnel for a day or two. I guarantee you, he'd not even think about running this (and probably, not any other) kind of scam after that

I guess it is just a matter of making people believe, and to do that, you need something fascinating and awe-inspiring like a sticker with a hologram on it to convince people that it operates at a certian frequency. Little did he know, the food stains on the towel operate at the same frequency as slot machines, and he could have won a million dollars at the seminole hard rock.
