Again, growing up in the 70's and 80's everyone learned - RWD is fine in the snow, sometimes you need a little extra weight in the rear so take a large bag of kitty litter with you (50lbs should do it), it adds more weight over the rear axle and can be used to gain traction on ice if need be.
you are right, that's what i did right after 1999 winter until i sold my ZX, i put 200 pounds of rice in the trunk

i like RWD, more mod, more fun, i hope i can buy one RWD for summer, and one AWD for winter, but just cant afford

I would say I can't afford it either, but the wife does have a B9 Tribeca. Besides, there's a reason I moved to SoCal - no need for winter tires

I'll wait and get a CPO M5, the 3 is way too small for me, a blast to drive but no one with legs can sit behind me. I figure at some point my kids will be in the car and the 3 doesn't allow for carseats behind me - damn bing 6'4"!!!! I love the M3

that's all you need, you are the driver, and girl sits next to you, keep the rear seats empty to reduce weight, and because you are driving a BMW M3, you can ask the girl next to you to Be My Wife easier

There in lies the problem - already got a wife, and 2 little boys, so she is the wife, and for some reason she likes to take the kids with us sometimes

i know alot of people like RWD and more fun with i,
maybe just me, i drove a Nissan 300ZX in 1999 (forgot exactly year) took me 6+ hours to get home with only 30 minutes distance, it was cold and running out of gas, watched the light turn green and red and green again, it was little uphill, so i couldnt go anywhere, lucky i saw a tow truck past by, of course i got towed
maybe rear weight was too light for 300ZX, BMW is better, more weight toward rear

so it could be just me, had really bad experience with RWD on snow, after that, i dont feel comfortable to drive RWD on heavy snow
sold 300ZX right after that and got 2000 Audi A4 AWD, i love BMW, but BMW didnt make AWD until 2001, and yes i got 2001 330XI, happy on snow
You're definitely NOT the first person to tell me about the Z not being drivable in the snow at all
