I will NOT be upgrading. I bought the original phone the first day it came out then signed another 2 years for 3G. I hardly use the minutes and want to cancel contract to go to prepaid on t-mobile. My buddy already has the 3.0 software, I will likely be installing it tonight. 3GS isn't anything special really. 3megapixel camera, a measly 1megapixel boost. and a compass, whos going to use a compass? Not me, I don't find myself in the woods, and if I did I would use GPS to get back on to a road. Another iphone in about 6 months anyway.

from 3g to 3g-s it's not.
My friend bought a 16gb 3G two months ago, he is absolutely pissed the new phone came out.
His brand new 16gb 3G phone can now be bought for $149, he is not happy.

So basically, aside from the extended memory, it has everything my jail-broken iPhone 3G has? Awesome, now there's another 500 bucks I'll be saving for more mods hahaha
Provided your jailbroken 3G has an ARM Cortex A8 core, a PowerVR SGX GPU, a magnetometer, HSDPA 7.2 capability, OpenGL ES 2.0 support, an auto focus 3 megapixel camera, 3MP video at 30 FPS and extended battery life you're absolutely right.

But hey, I'm not knocking it - I'd upgrade for, like, 10-20 bucks. But all this hype usually means that Apple is preparing to make its shareholders happy yet again with an overpriced sold-out gadget that nobody knew they NEEDED until it actually came out....

A lot of haters out here ey? I mean envy is just a bad thing isn't it?
Like swajames pointed out the 3G S will be a massive upgrade from all points of view but most important hardware capabilities and speed, things that no jailbrake can do or recreate.
I will however buy this when it gets out, as i already dropped my 16 GB white iPhone several times and it has small dents here and there....i know i know... i just suffer so much when i see a damaged Apple product
What amazed me the most is some of the new features the OS 3.0 bring, like the remote wipe in case phone is stolen (for mobile me customers).
But i hardly can wait for one BIG thing. OSX 10.6 and especially Snow Leopard Server.

BUT to each of it's own!! I honestly hope Blackberries continue to evolve, so to keep Apple on it's toes.
