Steer clear. This is only because the Gen2 Intels are announced and will be availble shortly. 34nm, and $225 for 80GB. They will have TRIM support (older X-25 drives won't get the update for TRIM support) and they're a tad faster than the Gen1 models.

Yeah, I know. That's a non-issue. Firmware revisions for SSDs are commonplace. By all accounts (even that article), validation for the fix should be completed this week. A blip on the road to the new drives.

agree, but $250 is still a great deal for a drive that I once bought for $400.

acuteperformance,

what kind of rig are you running?
did the ssd really make that much of a difference over your last drive?

im running a 10k rpm raptor right now but im thinking about making the switch to ssd once windows 7 drops.

Yes SSD really makes that big of a difference if you get a quality drive. Did you check out the YouTube video?

Yes I did, but I was curious to know what your setup was.
I got sucked into the useless AMD socket F board with dual fx 76's. It worked fine for all of about 6 months, then slowly started fading on me. My lan controller just took a poop, so It looks like its time for another upgrade.
