My Ride: Alpine White/Biege 545i, CWP, Nav, Active Steering, Auto Step ordered 2/1/05

Interesting, but apart from its historical value, the value of 5 kgs of Au @ $1000/ounce is only ~$166K.

In terms more understandable on this forum, it amounts to 3 530i's.

I would think a museum would pay more than the going rate for gold. I'd walk around a muddy field for 166k I've walked around one for a lot less!

So have I, how about we grab some metal detectors and head to the out reaches of the UK. I'm down!! We may just stumble on another find
Also, the article (if read), says the guys that found the treasure are looking at 7 figure premium for the find. A little more than the going rate for gold I'd say.

They mentioned the value to be in the millions, maybe dollars, perhaps pounds sterling. Either way, it's a lot of cash. What do you think they're planning to do, melt it into a clump? Too much time looking at #79 on the Periodic Table and not enough time in archaeology, history or art appreciation.

If you run across any rare, historic, or collectible gold jewelry, artifacts or watches, I will be more than happy to pay you by weight.

Also, if you're willing to pay $55,333 for a 530, consider it sold! Hell, I'll even deliver it.

BTW: There are ~176.4 ounces in 5 kilos, so you're off by a little over $10K. That would make my 530 worth $58,666. Let me know.
