F-16 NIGHT LANDING AT ASPEN
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BELOW FIRST

This is an F-16 on a visual landing to Aspen , Colorado at night.

The right half of the view is the pilot's normal visual path to the
runway during darkness---in other words totally black.
The left side of the screen is the Forward Looking Infrared which paints
the heat signature of the outside terrain for pilots so we can see at night as though it
were daytime ..

You have to love FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared) Technology...But it
takes all the FUN out of Night VFR (Visual Flight Rules)

Left side - FLIR Landing system presentation.

Right Side - View out of the cockpit.

Cool. Reminds me a lot of the FLIR on the E60!

Nick does the voice calling off the altitude change if the landing gear is up and the approach speed is faster?.........e.g. a low fly by.
Would it be a warning instead?

If the glide slop is off or decent too fast the computer will speak up. But then again, I wish that I had been a F-16 pilot. Closest I have ever come was my cousin who's call sign is "Mongo" as in Blazing Saddles Mongo. He had the pleasure of dropping a number of bombs on Saddam's house in Baghdad!

Are you sure that's an F-16 HUD?

Sounds like there is a co-pilot speaking to the pilot. F-16 is a single seater...

Boy, that looks like fun, though NOT as much fun as takeoff must be!

The F-16 comes either as a single-seater or a two-seater...

It could be in a regular role as two seats. The F-16D is most often in a two seat config.
