Cambridge Audio Azur 540D - main DVD player
Sherwood Newcastle R-965 - a beast
Philips DVP542 DVD for Divx movies
Belkin Pure AV pwer conditioner
dusty shelf for is the XBOX, we bring it downstairs for the kids sleepovers and such...

All of them are controlled by URC MX-300 remote (I recommend this remote if you need an RF remote application)

Attachment 70338

Definitive Technology Mythos 2 L/R and Mythos 3 center, Mythos Gem surrounds
HK sub

Buttkickers wired into seating powered by separate subwoofer amp has been the best "mod" for the home theater!

The depth charge scene in U571 is the best demo for the buttkickers
Nice system but may I recommend this 'mod'. Home Theater Systems-ostrich_20feather_20duster.jpg

Seriously - I don't see enough folks sporting BluRay players. All this fantastic gear needs to be fed primo content.

Also, periodically check with your cable or SAT operator for updated set-top-box decoders. Each newer model has (in theory) better MPEG decoders, scaling, etc...

I thought it would be cool to post up our systems since we all seem to have good taste when it comes to cars and TV's.

Post up what you have!

My system consists of:

PS3 80gig
Xbox 360 60 gig
Antique Sound Lab AQ1003DT EL34 Tube amp
Mullard EL34 Tubes
Panasonic 42in 1080p plasma
Vandersteen 2ce Sig speakers

I have the speakers positioned to created a phantom center channel and spaced out from the walls so the tandem woofers really make a huge impact.

Ive been through lots of systems and for right now, this system is incredible. I will be adding a center channel and some rears soon but I also want to upgrade to the new Rotel Surround Receivers first.
Wow what a tastefully done setup! I love your tube amp and speakers!!! Where can i get a hold of those kind of equipment?

Is there a difference between a PS3 and a dedicated BluRay player, and which output is better, the optical out or the HDMI.

Not much, the PS3 is a great choice. It has some nice advantages too, like firmware upgradability (which some standalones lack).

HDMI and SPDIF (Optical Digital Output) is identical unless the source is DD+, Dolby TrueHD, dts-HD HRA, and dts-MA (or any other "lossless" digital audio), in which case the optical or digital coax connection will only carry lossy DD or DTS encodings.

Here's my old old system (I haven't even turned it on for ages). Actually, even these pictures are old, many of the components have since been upgraded.

Rack:

Voom HD player (now using DirecTV HD DVR)
Lexicon MC-8B balanced pre/pro
Bravo D1 DVD player
LiteOn DVD burner (replaced with Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player)
Behringer Feedback Destroyer Pro (for tuning sub)
Crown K2, bridged (2500w into 4 ohm mono, 0.1% true THD) to power subwoofer
Panamax 4400 high amp surge suppressor
Panamax 4400 high amp surge supressor
Panamax Max5300 balanced power
Adcom GFA-7807 (600w into 4 ohm with all 7 channels driven)

Subwoofer:

Subwoofer is a SVS B4+ (four 12" high excursion woofers in a 200lb package. That sub next to it is an Atlantic Technology 370THX 15" sub, one used at Skywalker Ranch).

Projector (Dukane ImagePro 9017):

You can also see one of the two side speakers there, an Aurum Cantus Leisure 2 SE.

Screen and front:

Stewart Filmscreen 100" electric tensioned 16:9 Firehawk on 12v trigger, with THX certified microperf in bottom blackout section (the center channel speaker, Aurum Cantus MR-C, is embedded in the fireplace mantle behind it).

Aurum Cantus Music Goddess front speakers

I upgraded the electrical panel to feed the theater. There's a dedicated 30amp line going to the Adcom 7-channel amp for the 7 speakers. There's a second dedicated 30amp line going to the Crown K2 for the sub. A third 20amp line feeds the rest of the electronics.
