So the love of my life my gf of 4 years decides to break up with me and tells me the reason is "I don't love you anymore". I have never felt so betrayed or backstabbed ever in my life I feel like I got kicked in the stomach by a size 17 boot. sigh I wanted to marry this girl but there goes 4 years down the drain Ive never been so sick feeling in my life before but stupidly I'm holding out hope that we can get back together.. despite the advice of my friends to say fck that whre/slut/etc I cant seem to get over her (maybe cause this is the 2nd day after the break up) Just venting at how life seems great then some bullsh!t happens and screws me in the a55

Forget her. If you get back togther you are gonna have a divorce later on anyway.... At least now there are no legal matters to address, it's gets a little more complicated in a divorce...

oo honey.. im sorry.. honestly and i know this isnt what you want to hear, but if her words were "i dont love you anymore" then she has probably been unhappy for some time now. she has just held on and either hoped it would get better or you would end it before her. now then there is option 3 which could mean someone else is waiting in the wings..
honestly to all 3 of those option i know your hurting but you ARE better off knowing now. down the road if you proposed and she said "no" then it would hurt worse and you would be even more devastated. sometimes feelings change, it sucks. i think weve all been there..
just know that your fellow n.y.c'ers and fellow e60 members are here for you. the nyc ones can take you out for a drink and make you laugh, and the e60 ones can make you feel better. again sorry hun. nothing anyone can say at this point can help much..

Look at it as a 4 year learning experience. Probably much better happening now than later. The saying "Time heals all wounds" probably doesn't mean much right now but it really is true, you will still have a scar but it will get better with time. Best thing to do is emmerse yourself in things you enjoy doing, don't dwell on the past try to distract yourself. If you do catch yourself thinking of the past try to figure out what you could do to improve future relationships. If you chase this one you will undoubtedly waste more time holding out hope and just end up feeling more hopeless.
Keep it together life will be great again.
If all else fails keep in mind the advantages of not having someone around
- You can leave the toilet seat up.
- You don't have to hide your porn.
- No more chick flicks.
- No one snoring, hogging the covers in bed.
- When you put things down they will actually be there when you need them
- You can go to the mall and get what you need in less than 30 minutes
- No more comments like "Are you STILL on e60.net!"

#1 the last 4 yrs were not a waste, you did enjoy those years and she can't take that away
#2 You will be fine, trust me, a friend recently went through the same thing (plus they have a son) and it did take a bit but within a month he was back in the game and now 6 months later he's been dating a new girl for 2 months - and he is MUCH happier
The key is simple, never look to anyone for happiness, be in charge of your own happiness and do the things you enjoy. You will be fine, take it one day at a time.
