While choosing which music track I wanted to listen to, and then noticing a massive truck going by me which I hadn't noticed was coming (but it was fine because I hadn't strayed out of my lane), I wondered whether user inputs to things like idrive were ever used in accident evidence. Presumably the car system has the ability to record the timings of the G-sensor readings and interactions with things like idrive. If some lawyer was trying to prove you were the cause of an accident because they believed you were messing around with your idrive, I wonder if they could access the logs from your car of what you were doing within the second or two before the G-sensor registered the crash.
