Anyone know of any good home theater systems that are around $1500? (I'm not too much of an audiophile as you can tell from the price, but I DO want clarity).

I know a few things:
My experience with sony has been ... crap (it doesn't sound as good as I want)
Bose, I heard in this price range is a nono.

..

That's pretty much all I know .

Can anyone recommend any? I'm thinking Klipsch SF-2 or maybe Pioneer, Koss maybe?

Are you looking for speakers only, or the whole system. This makes a big difference.

For $1500.00 you can get a fairly decent home system, if speakers only, but I would need to know what type of Amp you have to match the speakers with the head unit.

bmwin14rsm is right. $1,500 can get a speaker pkg including sub. but a decent receiver will cost you around $6-700 and up. also, do you want 5.1 or 7.1? that's another story.

you still can get a decent, complete system with this price range. i saw compusa has an ad in yesterday's papers and they are having some discounts on receivers and speakers but forgot which brand. you can go to audioreview.com to check some models' ratings. atlantic technology spkr pkg and marantz receiver are not bad. i think you should be able to find something close to $1.5k. don't waste money to buy those all-in-one (receiver/dvd player/spkrs) pkg bundle. oh, one thing forgot to ask. is $1.5k including all the cables? you know decent cables aren't that cheap. you might want to get them from ebay.

Try HARMON KARDON. The sound and the price is right.

Let me make sure I understand you, you want:

5.1 Suround Sound Aplifyer
1-Center
2-Front
2-Rear
1-Sub

Correct?

I have a very similar system at home. Bigger main speakers, but my sub is the same and it is great. The Denon amp is a great amp for the $$. Klipsch RC series are dollar for dollar are one of the best.

I think I am with in $50.00 of your $1,500.00 price.

Ignor the colors on the Klipsch. I was going fast, you can get them in any of the three colors.

Correct.

bmwin14rsm, I have a quick question.
The klipsch RS-25W Surround Loudspeakers are the rear speakers right?
The RB-15C Bookshelf Loudspeakers are the front speakers right?

Wow it seems like a really good buy. BestBuy had a synergy series package for this price ($300 less), and synergy (I heard) is bad compared to Reference.

Edit: Oh by the way, I already have wires from my previous setup.
Also, the price for the setup above comes out to 2300 ish. Don't worry about that though. I'll find some places to downgrade .

Thanks a lot,
-TPG
