So what's the lesson of this entire thread? Every member should have a radar detector...especially if you are young. It's stupid not to. It should be your FIRST mod. It pays for itself. One ticket and you could have had yourself a V1!

Get a radar!

Always go to court, and take a copy of your driving record. Hopefully it's clean enough to get a PBJ.
So...after splitting off from the Midwest get together today...15 miles away from their route to be exact I got clocked by a MN trooper...Any advice on how to "go to court" when you are an out of towner?
Where do I get one of those V1s?

Just pay the fine. If it's out of state, it shouldn't be points on your license. At least it wasn't when I got a ticket in MA for going 96 in a 65. I just paid the fine and that was that.

Google it. See what it says for out of state drivers in Minnesota that receive moving violation tickets.

You check with the motor vehicle administration in the state your licenced through to determine if there is a reciprocity agreement with the state you've received the citiation. As far as having points on your record and going to court, make sure you've got your hat in your hand

I have a radar detector. That said, I still stay within legal limits unless I'm on certain stretches of the freeway that I'm very familiar with and have almost no traffic.

I've gotten a dozen tickets the past year with some only a few miles over the limit (of the radar gun) but just took it as a lesson and moved on. Protesting such tickets and saying I'm not guilty makes me feel a bit weird since I DID go over the speed limit and was caught so I just pay.

Just my experiences that's all.

I do know a few police and have nothing against them -- after all, it's their job and when they do get me for speeding, well...hehehehe.... I just be more careful next time.

YMMV.

EDIT: But yeah, it's so unfair since this BMW really wants to cruise at 2-30 above the set limits! That's how they were made--for the autobahn!!!! Hehehehehe

I blame it on the car!
