Hey all 5series.net computer geeks!

After severeal years of skipping this, I bought myself a new home computer at last. Or actually I bought the components and I'm building it myself.

I used to be a real geek, but I have been without a reasonable rig since 2003! All this computing I have done with my old and crappy laptop. For example using the Photoshop has been a pain. Now I'm hoping I could get some more time with my old hobby (I used to be a case modder you know), and hopefully I'll find some time for playing games too!

Here's the list of stuff I ordered:

- Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E-EVO; LGA1156, P55, DDR3
- CPU: Intel Core i5 760, 2.8GHz, LGA1156, 8MB cache
- CPU cooler: Noctua NH-C12P SE14
- RAM: Xtreem Dual-Channel kit (2 x 4G
- Graphics card: ASUS MATRIX-5870-P/2GB Ati Radeon HD 5870 Matrix Platinium
- HDD: Samsung HD103SJ 1TB SpinPoint F3 3.5", SATAII, 32MB
- DVD±RW: SH-S223C/BEBE, 22X, SATA
- PSU: Seasonic X-750
- Screen: Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24"
- OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit FI DVD

I already started this project, getting a new rig, two years ago when I bought the new ATX case: Lian-Li PC-A77 Black. It has been standing on my desk unoccupied for too long...

Now all this ordered stuff is on my floor and can't wait to get it built!

- Antti -

ps. I already have few games in a shelf waiting for the 2 week christmas holiday!

Very nice. You need a SSD drive now for your OS to complicate the package!

Yeah I guess that would be the right thing to do.
Any experiences how large should the OS partition be at minimum for a Windows 7?

I usually don't go anything smaller than 64GB.

Crucial RealSSD is the top SSD currently on the market.

Thanks for pointing that out! The SSD drives are all new to me so after these years it would have been another thing to learn about .

it's absolutely worth it. i can't even use a computer that doesn't have an SSD drive anymore.

I'm so happy for you Antti. You deserve it. But what about Eric? What's in it for him? He is still a bachelor so perhaps you'd allow him to use your hot machine to get on Match.com or eHarmony so he can find a warm and fuzzy little friend.
