Seriously speaking I have to say that me and my e60 we are more enviromentally safe than 90% of cars out there. CO emissions per 100km are smaller, car is in good condition. Not like many cars in Finland where average car age is about 11 years! IF something would happend iDrive will tell me that;"You naughty boy! You are polluting now"
So far I would not go what Saab did few years back, when they told that they cars actually clean air.
When gas cost 10$/? per litre, You can see only friends on the roads.

And you are right about the idrive - I had a valvespring failure on an e46 318 touring - about 6 lights lit on the dash - most of which I had to look up in the manual - and one was:
"emissions have fallen below acceptable levels - go to dealer immediately"
I think volvo also had the claim about cleaning the air when they brought out the lambda sensor (precurser to the catalytic converter).
To put it all in perspective - whatever you do as an individual to reduce the amount of co2 produced by your actions - if you take ONE flight anywhere - you double it.

Funny thing though is that flying is most enviromentally safe way to go! If calculate life cycle costs per passanger mile (building infra, equipments, fuel, etc.)
needforspeed, don?t You have work to do? Yes, i?m just going...

If I buy 30 trees at a tenner each, I can drive my ?Executive Diesel? as fast as I like and take multiple flights with no guilty conscience.
Wonder if this is a USP I can replicate elsewhere and make a profit from ? how about "buy school books for 10 sub-Saharan schoolchildren" for every adulterous relationship you have?

Try filling a GMC Yukon Denali. Cost about $90 a tank ful. That beast gulps the gas. I know I know I bought the thing. Not complaining just comparing the level of pain.
Still the US prices are much cheaper than they pay in Europe. Must be $9 a gallon or more over there.

This start to go serious!
Don't feel guilty, there is always someone who carry Your burden too! In Finland we have (if still alive) guy named Pertti Linkola, who preaches enviro lecture. But yes in the bottom line he is right, there is too many of us this globe to support (and more comming whole the time)! So maybe half have to go. Where I don't know and he (Linkola) don't know either, but he would be ready to "remove" that other half by extreme measures.
I think that when we really don't have oil anymore big oil money really start to find new source of income. People tend to find a solution when they are in the corner. Maybe we all join Amish!
War for oil is reality, some day it might be reality to fight for food, water, shelter against extreme weather conditions and so on.
