A family friend of ours, who has made it big, lives in Miami, FL,
his R&R stands in his garage with a teak-wood floor!

My E60 stands out in the snow :thumbsdown:

Tachyon,

Since you live in/near Chicago, I would strongly suggest that you not use any sort of poured flooring product.

There are too many dissatisfied customers who live in cooler climates or areas subject to wide changes in temperature and humidity throughout the year. The poured floors are great if you live in Arizona, Texas, or the like.

I live in the mid-Atlantic and it's the same issue here. The poured floors will usually begin cracking and chipping within 1-2 years. This is especially true if you have a newer home where the foundation has not settled yet.

What I would suggest for flooring is something like Sport Court's Daytona tile flooring, which comes in about 12 different colors. The tiles are 12" x 12".

BTW, I'd also suggest staying away from BLT products, which are basically rolled on plastic. Same issue here - a year or two down the road and they'll peel up, even if glued down.

Hey Redstradic,

I'm a new member here. I saw a photo of your garage floor while doing an internet search and fell in love with it. I am in the process of getting the same floor coating combination done. I have a question for you though. Do you have a pic with your garage door closed as I want to see how the black floor threshold piece looks sticking out beyond the garage door? A couple of contractors have warned me to be wary of my colour choices because when the garage door is closed...the threshold could end up sticking like a sore thumb. I think I would be OK though with the black.

Get the epoxy done professionally. They have the industrial strength versions compared to the Home Depot version, and they put down twice as many flakes. Keeps you from slip sliding away. And you don't have to wait 4-5 days. 2-3 days max is all it takes.
