How can you tell that it's a M3, let alone the model year.

There's an M stripe on the driver's seat!

My friend had a new E36 M3 in high school.

That thing handled so good, it was a blast.

The days when 240hp was doin it.

I personally think one of Bimmers best cars.

hehehe, poor car

Funny isn't it, the E36 M3 got the worst reviews ever for an M car because of the wooly steering and lack of feel on the limit, towards the end years of the E36 they revised a bunch of stuff to improve it however, this left the E36 M3 in europe at least being the most under appreciated and least liked M car ever made.

I went in one around the Norschleife with a friend couple of years ago, that thing had Bilstein Nurburing Suspension and uprated brakes etc, was absolutely fantastic, well sorted car, just shows in my mind what picky bunch the media can be sometimes, that said the media can also pat themselves on the back for improving the cars we drive I guess ?

Really it got bad reviews overseas? That is crazy! I have never seen a bad review of the E36 M3. Here, it was praised as one best performance car bargains on the planet. I remember reading in Automobile magazine, they said it was better than the "holy" E30 M3. I still think it is one best handling BMW's I have driven, even compared to todays BMW's. Never had the chance to drive the E30 M3, I would very much like too. I have driven E36, E46 and E90 M3. My sister has a E90 M3 DCT, fantastic car.
