Close enough,
Mighty good summary Phil, thanks for sharing.

I got interested in sports cars in the 50s. My father had a MB gull wing he bought from Bob Wilke of Leader Card Co. in Milwaukee. It was Wilke's wife's car.

Wilke ran several cars at Indy in those days ... Leader Card Specials driven by Roger Ward. I think Ward won Indy in Wilke's car in 59 or 60.

Dad, let me solo a couple of times in his gull-wing. It was a dark green metallic with white leather. It was quite a charge compared to my first every day car, a 36 Ford 60ci V8.

Geez six, can you even imagine what that gullwing would be worth today? I've see it in red, black and silver at car shows, but I bet that dark green over white was really unique and beautiful.

Yea, I think I have heard they were getting 500K at at some auctions. He turned it loose circa 1961 and picked up a 190SL. I do know the gull-wing was not in his will!

That red one is slick!

When I left home to go to university in Scotland, my dad and bro started calling me "Mac". Once settled in Glasgow, my Scottish mates shortened my name to "Sid" to make life easier. I've used McSid or MacSid ever since

Hmm sdg1871. What can I say?? I'm not very creative. My initials and date and year of my birthday.

Maybe I should have picked something a little more self-descriptive liker Litiga8tr, SkiFun550 or CarbonBlack550Rules but I'm not changing my forum name now.

So I guess I'll live vicariously through the forum name creativity of others. My wife always tells me I'm not the creative one in the family.
