Wow, that's pretty scary -- did that happen to you Peter or did you find those photos on the 'net somewhere?

(BTW, not that it makes much of a differentce but that's a brake pad, not a brake disc...)

Rudy is correct! It seems like it's a truck's pad

What a lucky guy, despite what happened, pad has stopped on the dash panel

Wow, this incident could have blinded the driver.
Thinking about the mechanics of this, I don't see how the brake pad could fly off the disc like that, especially being enclosed around a wheel. It also looks like this brake pad hasn't been mounted for years.
Maybe this thing fell off the bed of a truck or was thrown.

Ai, looks familiar, got that too in Italy a few years ago while on holiday.
Driving around 150 kmh. It caused a shattered windshield, mirror and a blue shoulder.
Not to mention what could happen when something like that part hits someones face.

It might have been something sitting on the road that was kicked up by a passing car, I suppose...

oh man that sucks... its good that it didnt go completely through to the driver though. other than that in the car and maybe some scratches/cuts, hope all is well.
