Well, it does make sense.

Lousy FIAT is now worth double as much as before, even though Chrysler is bankrupt.

The FIAT 500 is a great little car. Top Gear love it, EVO loves it. It was the European Car of the Year for 2008. Irrespective of the Chrysler deal, it was apparently US-bound in any event.
