It depends on the model. I almost bought a special order gun metal blue E39 528i which looked awesome. I don't know the official color name. A U.S. dealer had seen the color while in Germany and specified that paint code on a 528i and a 540i. They got them no questions.

My 3 Series was in water purely to mess about with different ideas of photography. Trying to get nice reflective shots. Don't worry, it wasn't deep water, and the water wasn't able to damage anything under the car or get into the exhaust etc!
