But your system will sound amazing with CD,I honestly think that analogue media cannot better digital in terms of true reproduction.
That's what I've been thinking lately. I play CDs on the PS3 (a totally decent transport btw, surprisingly), with which I'm more or less satisfied. Plus, honestly, I don't exactly have all that many CDs anymore - most of my music is on my computer's hard drive. What I'm deciding between is Wadia iPod transport or a turntable at this point. I do have an 80Gb iPod I can dedicate completely as a music HD.

That is true. I think people listening to analogue do it for the traditional sound, as V said, the warm sound. I personally dont care for it, but completely understand it. Take opinion out of the equation and the sheer quality of anything in digital format will sound better then analogue.

IN OTHER NEWS: THIS JUST IN - non-U.K. citizens that spell analog with "ue" in the end, while advocating for digital may be gay bwahahahaha

but yes, Craig, you're absolutely right - digital quality is great these days, especially the lossless format - flac. And really, I'm not sure whether its worth the investment for the analog setup these days. Particularly, the investment of time and money it takes to build a collection of vinyls...

Since you enjoyed the music so much,I must recommend a DVD,"The Space Within Us"- Paul McCartney. It covers the USA tour in 2005 with hi-definition cameras and 5.1 digital surround sound. You will watch this more than once!

Heck, I'll sell my small collection of Rock & Roll vinyls for cheap. Scratches, clicks, and pops included. Whats a Beatles '62-'66, Dark Side of the Moon, or Led Zep IV worth, $100s each? I haven't listend to any in years since I replaced most with CDs and those are now digitized to iTunes. I even have a decent 20 year old turn table (only because my first one bought in '79 was stolen). Good luck finding an amp with a turn table ground AND full surround sound.

PS: If you really want to go retro, I can sell my collection of 8 tracks.

LOL don't be so friggin' negative duuuuude

As for those vinyls - if you have any in good condition, try selling on a hi-fi forum, like audiogon or something - people do pay good money for them. Yes, still.
