Over the years I have used EBAY for various purchases (maybe 30 purchases). During the past year I have been disapointed many times. I'd say I have been running at the 50% satisfied level. I have been sent broken things, inferior things, and just been dealing with some real jerks. (I also have gotten a few bargains and quality things.) Before this year, my satisfication level was at the 95% level.

Whats others experiences - is EBAY getting to be a nasty place or have I had just some bad luck recently?

similar. In the early days of EBay I had very good experiences, but I have had too many jerks over the last two years that I very rarely consider EBay anymore. Seems like the masses have taken over.

Im in the UK and continue to use eBay for the bulk of my purchases. I have a rating of just over 400 and have only had two "bad" deals, but only to the extent of not being happy with what I bought and returning the item for a full and prompt refund. I once had a non-seller, managed to get hold of their phone number only to find out it was a 14 year old, I spoke to his mum and received full payment and an apology!

Maybe in the US things are much worse.

I have been happy with ebay thus far. I really try to stay focused on sellers with really good ratings and I do understand that when you are selling hundreds of items that occasionally someone will be a little pissed off. Overall you can't beat the deals. Even on stuff like printer ink (big savings!!!). just bought a kenwood stereo on ebay for $800 and it costs $1300 in stores WOW!.

i am a huge fan of eBay

Been buying stuff from EBAY for 4 years now and I'd say 98% i received my stuff from seller. Never had a real big problem... Just make sure you check sellers feedbacks and ratings before you buy item from them... Good Luck!!!!

I don't like ebay and don't even have an account there. My wife does, but usually she tells me what sehe wants and I find ways to get it for decent prices. I don't need ebay.
Too many scammers and too much stolen stuff and/or replicas.

Hehe I was only kidding. eBay is like any other "classified ads" - do your research, check out the history of the person you are buying from, and you'll be fine. I've saved thousands of pounds by buying from eBay instead of other online retailers.
