Actually you're right. I know there is a small airport up there somewhere, just haven't been up to the mountains in like 13 years, so damned if I remember.
Neither can I! But I do recall hearing it was a pretty crazy landing in the mountains, short runway etc...

south lake tahoe you got 3 resorts here and casinos w some fun night clubs, to go against the grain i would also recomend mt baker in WA, mt bachelor in OR, jackson hole WY. i love vail and i have the epic pass to ride there, but wooo hooo the accomodations are expensive! SLT is cool cuz its a sweet party town w lots of cool heads and cheap lodges, and if u folow my gambling strategy you can drink there for cheap/free/ or they pay you to drink! also if u wanna meet up ill take you and your crew by fire and ice and my exroomate nikki HOOKS IT UP FAT!!, check out HEAVENLY, KIRKWOOD, or SIERRA AT TAHOE resorts bro!

Yes, Eagle County Airport is a stone's throw away from Vail and several major airlines have direct flights there: http://www.flyvail.com/

In terms of things to do, Vail has more than any other resort in North America. It's the biggest.

You can drink like a pig in Park City or any other resort in Ski Country Utah. I?ve never had a problem getting a drink near a Utah ski resort. A one time, you had to join a private club in order to drink. This may not be the case anymore. In some bars the requirement was that you pay a small fee ($5.00) and then you can order all the alcohol you want for the rest of your vacation. As a youngster, you should have a great time bar hopping around the old downtown section of Park City. It reminds me of Breckenridge, Colorado only rowdier!

As to which resort and which state, these are difficult choices. With its massive terrain, Vail is my favorite resort in the United States, but Vail is relatively expensive compared to other Colorado and Utah resorts. If the snow conditions are good, you can have fun at any major resort. In the U.S. ski industry, every major western resort has their act together. For value, I favor Utah?especially the Park City Area. From Texas you should be able to get inexpensive airfare to Salt Lake City (via Southwest). If you get to Salt Lake City around 10:30 a.m., you can grab your bags, jump in a rental car and 45 minutes later you can be on the mountain. If you arrive at Park City before 12:30 p.m. you can turn in your airplane boarding pass and ski the rest of the day for free. I?ve none it!! You can find very reasonable accommodations around Park City and stay close to the Park City party scene. Or, you might find cheaper and better accommodations near The Canyons ski resort which is only 15 minutes away by car or shuttle. If you want an Aspen like experience, 10 minutes from Park City is the Deer Valley Ski Resort. But, be prepared to pay $15.00 for a cup of chilli.

To save a little money on the mountain, you can pack energy bars and a few sandwiches, then buy soup, hot drinks and extras from the resort. The Park City area has a free bus system so you don?t have to pay to get around during the day. Unfortunately, cabs are expensive, so to get around easy at night it might be better to rent a car at the airport.

If you?ve never skied or boarded before, take a group lesson first. In the early season there are usually great deals on equipment rental, lessons and passes. Most resorts have heavily discounted rates for early season beginning skiers and boarders.

If you?re never experienced attitude, avoid alcohol for the first 12 to 24 hours. Or, at least drink moderately or chase your drinks with plenty of water to hydrate. For beginners, I?d start drinking water a couple of days before the trip to help me adjust and avoid headaches. Wherever you lodge, ask for a room humidifier?and remember to clean it before use!!. It?s a pain in the butt to have a member of the group so sick on the mountain that you have to cut you trip short and get to a lower elevation.

For beginners, after two days on the mountain your body will be sore in places you never realized you had. Plan to take one day off to rest your body. If you feel up to it, you may pick a rest day to go snowmobiling in the mountains. Group rates are around $50 to $80 per person for the day. If the conditions are right, you?ll see great views from around 10,000 feet.

Sorry for the long response. It?s a bad habit. Good luck to you.

wow...thanks man for the response! I really appreciate all the help guys. I think I am going with Park City this time so once I do some more research, I will finalize the plans and let you guys know if I have any questions.

Hey skelevirus, thanks for the offer bro! I will definitely hit you up when I come that way next time. If any of you are every in Houston, holla at me...but I will warn you that Houston is kind of boring for a big city.

Thanks!

Vishall,

I been to Vail. Did not like it there at all. If I were you and I wanted save on cost, I would go to Keystone. Been there almost 10 times already and love it there. There's a nice village for shopping and eating as well. The main thing that I like about Keystone is that they offer night skiing. It runs till 10pm. You can get a twilight lift pass for about $50.00. The pass will be good for lifts between 2pm-10pm. I think it's a very good deal and very cost efficient. Like Frank said, cheack out vrbo.com. The more people you have going the cheaper it gets. Our stay this year is at Breckenridge. This location was chosen by a poll we had between our group. As it was very cheap for the week stay through vrbo.com; as the cost is divided among everyone. Our cabin sleeps 24 people, but we are only having 17. It's a huge place. Anyway, the cost for my part is only $175 for the week. Buy lifts passes online, it will save you a lot of money. You can search the web for group offers. Our lifts will be costing us $183 for the week. That's big savings compared to actual cost. If you do decide to stay at Keystone, I would highly recommend staying at River Run. River Run is a ski in - ski out resort. Very convenient as when you get hungry, you can just ski into your resort from the slopes. This will also save you money from not having to pay for the pricey meals on the slopes. GL man, if you need any more advice let me know.BTW, I got an extra snowboard if you want to borrow it. It may save you money, but if you check in too many bags it may cost you extra to bring it. LMK.
