I'm a die hard from both camps, and I haven't been using my Mac much lately (been doing too much Vista). But, I cranked my iBook up and could not find anything that is likely to solve your problem. I'll give you the stock answer; you could try repairing permissions. Use Disk Utility. And, another longshot is updating the prebinding. Here is a link that may help you get started. And, if you want to ask for help, then I'd go here. Good luck.

Thanks Znod. According to one of your links, it looks like updating the prebinding is no longer needed with Tiger.

go to System Preferences, Universal Access. See if Mouse Keys is enabled, if so turn it off. If it's on this may be the problem as it changes the function of the keypad to let users navigate without a mouse.

Rudy, try this:
go to System Preferences, Universal Access. See if Mouse Keys is enabled, if so turn it off. If it's on this may be the problem as it changes the function of the keypad to let users navigate without a mouse.

Rudy, did it work? I tried it on my machine when I got home last night and was able to both replicate your issue and also "fix" it with the mouse/mouse key toggling in the universal accesss preference pane.
Thanks!!
