I just got my 5er back from the dealership yesterday (in for software reprogramming) so it was the first time I had driven it in over a week.

Was driving on a two-lane back road toward work. I'm in the left lane, there's an SUV in front of me in the right lane and a car behind me in the right lane. The car kept speeding up and drifting back into my blind spot (very annoying) and there wasn't enough room for him to pass in front of me due to the SUV. So I decided to speed up to get past both cars.

So I floored it......passed both cars going around a slight turn......and right into a speed trap

For the record - my V-1 wasn't in the car (it was in the Camaro). As soon as I saw the police officer's car I hit the brakes, but when I glanced at the speedo I knew I was screwed - it showed 85-90mph. I had no idea I was going that fast (stupid, deceptive, European cars! )

Now it gets better. The cop lights his car up before I get to him, so I immediately pull over after I pass him. I already have my insurance and registration card out when he gets to my window. By the tone of his voice I knew he was already pissed, so when he asked me "why the hell I was doing 95 in a 55?!". I did the only thing I could do - tell the truth.

Use your imagination to figure out how far that got off the ground.

So he demands to see my license (I oblige) and he goes back to his car. When he gets back he tells me that he is going to do me a favor and not cite me for aggressive driving. Insted he decided to cite me for speeding AND improper lane change.

I let that marinate for a moment while I sign the citations - it occurs to me that I NEVER changed lanes until I pulled over. So I politely ask when did I change lanes and he starts getting defensive and loud. So I shrug my shoulders and tell him I'll just fight it in court. Now he's really pissed and says "if I want to argue about it he can take me to jail". I'm like - WTF? so I calmly tell him I'm not arguing about anything and repeat my intent to fight it in court. He sneers "well I'll see you in court" and stomps off.

As bad as it was I just laughed it off (it could have been worse) and drove on to work.

If you didn't change lanes until you pulled over, how did you pass two cars?

Damn, that sucks. The cop was obviously having a bad day already. I know you did your best to stay cool. I learned that you should always be polite to the officers, even if you are pissed about the situation. Because this would determine whether you get a deal or not at the court. I heard that sometimes those cops write "ND" (as in No Deal) on his notes if the driver is being incooperative and confrontational.

If you've heard, I recently got pulled over during a meet in NY/NJ as well. My ticket got downgraded to a parking ticket with no points. Anyway, I hope everything works the best for you.

Like I said - i was already driving in the left lane. I actually made a left turn to get where I started

i got pulled over doin 80 and the cop was so pissed he told me to be casrefull or he was going to "jack me up" lol i was like o.k....... and shut the fuck up @ that point
