Yep sounds like it.

Normally the majority of plane crashes are caused by pilot error.

Yep.
I didn't even realized when reading your post that I had a major typo in there.
Thanks, I edited it.

This is, because the media keeps telling 2000 metres, and while typing I realized it's NOT 2000 metres, it's 2 nautical miles.

A 2000 mile glide slope... Would be tough for the pilots and some airports they come across...

I don't know if weather conditions were an issue at the time of landing. If so, perhaps the pilot was using a CAT III approach to Heathrow. See Wikipedia for explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrument_Landing_System

Until the facts are established (FDR, Voice Recorders), the electronics are analyzed, and the flight crew is interviewed it's not a big problem for Boeing and those airlines which operate 777 aircraft. Clearly they're (all) hoping that it was a pilot error of some kind.

Time will tell but I'm pretty sure this will not turn out to be pilot error. They will already have a pretty good idea what happened and there's no way BA would have put the crew in front of the press if there was any real concern that the cause was pilot error.

Well, they also say, that the pilots tried to manually increase the throttle to get more speed, and the engines still failed to respond.

What then happens at this point of the approach is clear and totally matches with everything that witnesses in and outside of the plane said: It dropped. Tis is, because it stalled, since the engines were not responding and the plane was too slow.
Everything looks like there was a complete loss of the electronics, since the engines were running until they crashed.

This would mean, tehre could be a problem on all aircrafts, at least all triple sevens.

I was told by a friend who is with the pilots union here in Germany, that all pilots are asked to manually approach, if possible, and to be on highest alert if not possible.

Also, a BA pilot with so much experience, approaching his homebase in good weather conditions... I don't see how they could've made such an error.

But time will tell...
