Cool

Computer Hillbillies

Come on the Quartet !!!!
Sung to the tune of The Beverly Hillbillies...

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed,
A poor college kid, barely kept his family fed,
But then one day he was talking to a recruiter,
Who said, "they pay big bucks if ya work on a computer...."

UNIX, that is .... CRTs.... Workstations....

Well the first thing ya know ol' Jed's an engineer,
The kinfolk said "Jed, move away from here".
"Arizona is the place ya oughta be"
So he bought some donuts and he moved to Ahwatukee...

Intel that is ..... dry heat.... no amusement parks....

On his first day at work, they stuck him in a cube.
Fed him more donuts and sat him at a tube.
They said "your project's late, but we know just what to do.
Instead of 40 hours, we'll work you 52!"

OT, that is.... unpaid.... mandatory....

The weeks rolled by and things were looking bad.
Schedules started slipping and managers gettin' mad.
They called another meeting and decided on a fix.
The answer was simple... "We'll work him sixty-six!"

Tired, that is.... stressed out.... no social life....

Months turned to years and his hair was turning grey.
Jed worked very hard while his life slipped away.
Waiting to retire when he turned 64,
Instead he got a call and was escorted out the door.

Laid off, that is.... de-briefed.... unemployed....

Now the moral of the story is listen to what you're told,
Companies will use you and discard you when you're old.
So gather up your friends and start your own firm,
Beat the competition, watch your bosses squirm.

Mllionaires, that is.... Bill Gates.... Steve Jobs....

Yall come back now... ya hear......

I was over in Naw'lins a few years ago on holidays. If only I'd known...
What a wasted opportunity. And I could have ridden in a 545i.

I'm watching for the following symptoms to occur to determine if I'm an unwitting convert:

1. You take your dog for a walk and you both use the same tree.
2. You can entertain yourself for more than an hour with a flyswatter.
3. The Salvation Army declined your mattress.
4. You have the local taxidermist on speed dial.

One more for Irish Eyes:

The bartender was washing his glasses when an elderly Irishman came in and, with great difficulty, hoisted his bad leg over the barstool, pulled himself up painfully, and asked for a sip of Irish Whiskey. The Irishman looked down the bar and said, "Is that Jesus down there?" The bartender nodded, and the Irishman told him to give Jesus an Irish whiskey also.
The next patron was an ailing Italian with a hunched back and slowness of movement. He shuffled up to the barstool and
asked for a glass of Chianti. He also looked down the bar and asked if that was Jesus sitting down there. The bartender nodded, and the Italian said to give Him a glass of Chianti, also.
The third patron, a redneck, swaggered in dragging his knuckles on the floor and hollered,"Barkeep, set me up a cold one. Hey, is that God's Boy down there?" The barkeep nodded, and the redneck told him to give Jesus a cold one, too.
As Jesus got up to leave, he walked over to the Irishman and touched him and said, "For your kindness, you are healed!" The Irishman felt the strength come back to his leg, and he got up and danced a jig out the door.
Jesus touched the Italian and said, "For your kindness, you are healed!" The Italian felt his back straighten, and he raised his hands above his head and did a flip out the door.
Jesus walked toward the redneck, and the redneck jumped back and exclaimed, "Don't touch me, I'm drawin' disability!"

OK just one more:

The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged a highly secret plan they had funded with the U.S. auto makers for the past five years. The NTSB covertly funded a project whereby the auto makers were installing black boxes in four wheel drive pick-up trucks in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 15 seconds before the crash. They were surprised to find in 49 of the 50 states the last words of drivers in 61.2% of fatal crashes were, "Oh Shit!" Only the state of West Virginia was different, where 89.3% of the final words were, "Hey Y'all, watch this!"

Brilliant. There is so much there that I defy anyone to deny that they ARE NOT a redneck. I think I'll have to search my roots to see if there are any ancestors that came TO ireland from America. I could be one. Way hay.
