The awareness test Ryan posted was neat so i found some optical illusions. Enjoy!
Challenge yourself to try and count the dots in the diagram below. Despite a static image, your eyes will make it dynamic attempting to "fill-in" the white circle intersections with the black of the background.
Instructions: Simply stare at the white circles and notice the intermittent blinking effect.
How objects and colors appear is highly dependent on their context. The structural and spatial variables of a scene can influence appearance and perception. The following optical illusion demonstrates how we are sometimes fooled by our eyes.
Instructions: The diagram below features two circles with different surroundings. Would you believe that the two circles are identical?
Can you find the face? (i cant )
What words do you see? In black you can read the word GOOD; but the word EVIL also appears in white letters inside each black letter.
The following pics are not animated. Your eyes are making them move. To test this, stare at one spot in each picture for a few seconds and everything will stop moving; OR look at the black center of each circle in the first picture, and it will stop moving; but when you move your eyes to the next black center, the previous one will move after you take your eyes away from it.
Two elderly faces, or a larger scene?
This is called an "impossible object," which means that it's impossible to build. But drawing it is not impossible, as you see in the image.
Do you see the face? Can you see the word?
okay, im dizzy now

OK - I found the face in the coffee beans. It is within a single bean. From the bottom left corner count right about 6 beans and up two.

good stuff kathy thanks for sharing.
i remember that one with the nuts if you could see the face. first time i saw that was last quarter in a bio seminar. while they showed the picture they told us how good our brain works according to how many seconds it took to actually see it. dont worry i never found the face until they pointed it out
