BMW Films - "The Hire" FREE
Not sure if anyone really cares, but I just signed onto Owners Circle and saw that they're giving away a free DVD to this movie. So I thought, "Why not?".
It's listed under the BMW Rewards section. FYI

Just in case anyone hasn't seen these, they are wonderful! There are several short films directed and acted by well-known people. The production values, video, and sound quality are fantastic. They are also all available for download at: www.bmwfilms.com.

Just an F.Y.I. >
Recently, there was a short clip on the Bravo channel featuring one of the new directors (forget his name) of one of the new BMW films that are currently in production.
The E60 will be in at least one of these new films as a Titanium Grey 545 was shown on location, far off in the background during the interview with the director.

there is a film on the bmw canada site with a e60 in it called Mr. Jones. click the right bottom to visit the on the page below.

Very cool -- and very different from the shoot em up films of the past. Nice job.
Death drives a BMW? Or simply a facilitator? Or what?

I think the whole film portrays Mr. Jones (& the E60) as a conduit to the afterlife so yes, he is somewhat of a facilitator.
I think though, that the driving of the E60 represents some sort of spiritual release or maybe final wish(?) for release of the soul and to finally be at peace.

okay - first off, he is not death - he has the right look but that ain't the gig.
and lose the spiritualism - this is a secular: no conduits, no afterlife, no spirits, no soul, please... bavaria may be a bastion of catholicism but that is not typical german business practice.
but you're close on the 'last wish' thing
she was dead
she wanted to 'get away' for a minute
she thought that the last thing she wanted was a drink
he thought that the last thing she needed was freedom
so he let her drive the 'five (of course, to the beach, the epitome of freedom)
he was right
and we assume he's now off to find another funeral procession
and if you insist on a spirit-thing connection, call mrJones an angel (different style but just as cool as was John Travolta ;-)
of course, this is all but my opinion so feel free to disagree violently

skidster;Well, I do think you're right about her needing to get away.....except it looks like she had JUST died as she was about to be lowered into the ground at the end. In many films, that time is analagous to the "blinding white light" or the time spent between two worlds (like Patrick Swayze in "Ghost"). So in that respect, yeah, I think its accurate to call Mr. Jones an angel.
I guess the question is: Is all that "bastion of Catholicism" something that would be considered typical Canadian practice for this director? If so, then maybe there is some deeper meaning to the flick, if not then I guess the simpler version of the story would be more accurate.

don't know his work at all - were i the client i wouldn't put out something with religous overtones as it just doesn't work commerce wise - and it is an advert, isn't it? my assumption is that it was done for hire...
as to the flic itself...
she was the body in the hearse in the funeral procession in which he, it appeared, had the misfortune of becoming stuck behind...
she had the time to get away between the hearse/limos turning left and heading to the funeral ceremony / graveyard - the went for the cruise and he took her back to the funeral - her funeral
