I'd go the fast glass every time over the slightly longer zoom. I have a few F4 lenses and I hate them (except the 500mm which is an F4). All my F4 lenses stay in a bag, all the F2.8 lenses get used. You will find that the build quality of the F2.8 lenses will *usually* (but not always) give you a sharper image at the same focal distance - there are a few exceptions with both Canon and Nikon.

that why I only go for F2.8 and never F4.
If you going to get a Lens, go for the best cos you going to keep it for a long time much longer than your E60
