My Ride: 2011 520dA coming up.
Not yet, minor damage to plating will be no problem.
However, the AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steels) used in this cars chassis are amonst the most advanced used in automobile industries and they need big investments in training plus qualified (by BMW) tools.
And that investment is way too big for one single brand of cars. The same with just to name a random few: Audi, Jaguar, Range Rover
So, the major accidents like that from wiszmaster go to a specialized BMW only body shop over here link
A Diagnostic computer needed to reset the cars computer after a crash (think airbag sensors and pdc etc) is available.
