My buddy is going to be moving out to SF and he has no idea of which areas are good and which we should stay far away from haha.

I think the area is considered South SF. He went this past weekend to check some places out and Bayview was the closest to his work, but as driving around he said it felt like being in Compton! Yikes!

He doesn't mind being a bit further out, what do you guys recommend? Which area should he look into.

I guess we can take Bayview (since he's already been there and is about 5 mins from his job) as a beginning point, furthest he'll want to go out is probably 10 - 15miles. He's looking for a 2 bedroom house/condo to rent in a nice area with about $2000/month as a budget.

Those with SoCal and NorCal knowledge would be great so you can give me some comparison i.e. Bayview is equivalent to Compton haha. It'll be easier for me to explain to him.
