I am for loans with conditions of payback, union concessions, and such (but no conditions of car types, carbon limits, etc). In short, allow them to have to time to retool and make the cars that the US public seems to want. If they can't build those cars and make a profit then its their loss, not ours. However the retooling does take time so if they get no help, they'll be gone before they could build the "right" cars.
Just to throw money at them and watch it disappear in a year when they declare bankruptcy is wastefull.

My thoughts exactly and this is why I'm against loans or handouts. Chrysler has had over two decades to do just that. It's a shame and I don't want anyone to suffer but the cars on the road will still need parts and service. People looking for a new car will still need a car. So what if it's not from one of the big three and we end up with a big two. While GM is shutting down plants Toyota is still opening up new plants. Labor costs too much? Tell that to the Germans. Yes everyone is hurting but some are hurting less than others and there is a story to be told there.

If I mismanaged my money will congress give me a low interest loan to help ME out of my situation?

I'm against the bailout and really believe the car companies should declare bankruptcy so they can restructure and reorganize. Also it'll free up alot of money for them because they wont have to pay those pensioners anymore and those overpaid workers and finally be competitive

On another note, here's the bill that was introduced in Congress, House of Repr. Take a look at page 35, section c. This is what our leaders in Congress do. Insert language and provisions that are unrelated to a bill. I'd like to find out which Congressman introduced this languange in the bill, and make his name public. Wait, didn't P-E Obama said he would do that??

Attachment 67033
Bingo...

Not only do they insert stuff like that in there, it often effects the vote on the floor. For example, someone that wants to vote "yes" will end up voting no because of some inserted BS like this. Later, when that politician is running for office again, his opposition will claim he voted "no" on the bill that cost many people their jobs, etc. without explaining the reason he voted the way he did...

I never read anything about tax payer bail-outs, or anything close to that, in the United States Constitution.
