I haven't had a moving violation in 10+ years.....buy a Bimmer and get two in a 4 month period The first one was for not completely stopping at a stop sign, and the second one, which I got tonight was for speeding.....79 in a 60. Driving style hasn't changed....gotta be the car! Anyone else experience this

1. i think it is easier to speed in a BMW due to build quality. every time i tell myself my driving style hasnt changed, i realize i am going much faster then i used to. i have to be careful.

2. Cops are less likely to feel bad for you in a BMW I feel.

3. I have been pulled over 3 times in past 3 months. i was fortunate to get out of 2 tickets because of my license plate and i paid a lawyer to get me out of the 3rd.

... i have learned my lesson the easy way thank god, and i have slowed down

Actually, it's the opposite here..

I do agree about the build quality allowing you to drive faster without noticing it.

But here, it seems that cops don't pull over BMW's, Caddy's, MBs, Audis.. It's always F-bodies, Cavaliers, Hondas, you know, regular people movers. They seem to give a little more leeway to people with nicer cars. Almost like they're thinking "That person drives a nice car, they must be an upstanding member of the community, I don't need to hassle them unless they're doing something REALLY ignorant." Really nice cars aren't all over the place here. Even if you drive through the nicest parts of town, you might see one or two other beemers, but it's mostly 3's and x3's. In the 5 weeks I've owned by 545, I've seen fewer than ten e60's around here.

For instance, I've come upon radar traps that were well setup, and I didn't see them until it was too late. On more than one occassion, I have literally passed by the radar trap going at least 15 over, and nothing happened. Mind you, I get very nervous EVERY time this happens, but knock on wood, that's how it's gone so far. I really don't want to completely put this theory to the test, so I'm trying to slow down, but it's hard when the car just flies like that, seemingly all by itself.

i have thought the cops think like that. when i lived in NY cops only hassled kids in mustangs and civics... i was one of those kids.

I guess it depends on your area/car/cops personality

I may have to set that speed limit warning ding, I think. Not to rub anyone the wrong way, but I think there is a little racial profiling going on here in this lovely city

Agree about the build quality thing, i was doing almost 120mph once. Thinking I was going just a bit fastter than 70!

i kind of agree with the fact that one's driving style changes once they get used to a bimmer.. these things just give us a lot more confidence and ability... moreover, we don't "feel" how we are driving unless we see ourselves driving... keep enjoying, and keep out of trouble

Could also be the call from above for revenue generation.

In CT our ? Governor has proposed a set of speed cameras on the interstates (1-91 and I-95) for just such purpose.
