Any perks about buying a boat in the winter?
nope.. hi nextlevel.. im not an expert.. but i do have a boat.. i have a 41 foot fomula pc. we go to the boat show every year in the javits center.. they are supposidly offering the best "winter deals"... they are not! lol.. prices are ridiculous still. we did not buy our boat brand new.. nor would we ever.. i have twin 450 cummings(diesel) so its a little different then buying gas.

i would buy a boat a few years old.. look at the hours on the engines.. how it was stored, etc.. most boats of the size you are looking at are dry docked and shrink wrapped depending on where you live.. boating is an expensive hobby and you can probably find a really good deal on a boat a few years old with warranties on the engines and hull.. alot of people now cannot afford a boat let alone gas for them. the marina im in has slips open like crazy and there used to be a waiting list. check out www.yachtworld.com i found my boat there in c.t and although its a few years old its in excellent condition and never had a problem. that site will also give you ideas on prices.. dont forget if there only a few years old there only used during the season for pure pleasure and probably have MINIMAL wear on them.. i would save the money if i were you.. weve been boaters for years and i dont know anyone that goes out and buys brand new..

larson is a pretty good boat. i havent heard anything bad about them yet... pm me ill tell you some other names to stay away from for different reasons.. ive either had them.. or my friends have or do..lol.. mel

p.s it stoo bad your not in n.y.. we could take you to some crazy places by water..

Listen to Mel. New boats are a huge waste of money. You will find tons of people trying to dump their boats in this economy. Larson is a reputable brand and make one of the better mass produced boats. It is a generic boat so it won't be really fast or be great for skiing. It will be good for puttering around. Make sure you know what you want to use the boat for and make sure you are buying the boat that will meet that need. I've had a few and it really sucks when you start using a boat and realize you bought the wrong one.

What ever boat you choose, you must have a sea trial and an independant marine survey. Can't sea trial in winter, I've seen brand new boats take on water and sink at the dock on maiden voyage.
Dealers clean up boats and make them look real tempting on land , the sea trial tells it all.

I use to have a boat and I am missing it. Specially now the summer is here. I had a Crownline 180 bowrider with a 4.3 Mercruiser. I am not sure about the market in Canada but I believe it is a little pricey.

Thats actually great advise. I'm going to remember that next time I need to buy a car. I've got a few people in mind.
