Well...

FOOTBALL = Worldwide!

FOOTBALL = Canada and USA only....

Who wins?
Who wins? The NFL; hands down. The problem with soccer in the States is it is played as a third or fourth sport. Our best athletes are playing baseball, basketball, football, hockey and now, even golf or tennis before playing soccer.
And as for viewing soccer; watching a game that has a final score of 1-0 does nothing....
I will probably get "jail-sexed" for writing this but oh well.

You are now comparing apples and oranges!

The MSNBC article claims 97.5 million people watched the Super Bowl on TV in the USA!

Worldwide, my friend, the Super Bowl IS, and that is a proven FACT!!!, the BiGGEST single sports event in the world!
It can be seen in every country in the world and in total it is watched by about 2000 million (that's 2 billion!) people!

The number you post for the World Cup is the grand total, worldwide.

Now, compare your 1150 million to the 2000 million and you'll see, Football is #1, not Soccer!

And just therefore, my friend, Football is FOOTBALL, Soccer is not, it's SOCCER!

Oh yeah, and in Maracana you could also play Football. They simply don't have a team.
