I was also in one of those "oh, my... someone lived!" kind of crashes while driving in NYC years ago in an E28. To this day I feel like I owe my life to that car. Everything in the car was destroyed, including the full size spare in the trunk. But the passenger cabin was structurally intact. And this was decades before building a safe car was sexy. BMW was (and is) ahead of its time.

I'm glad that guy is alive to tell the story. That kind of accident will change you.
