Then I started thinking... in light general aviation aircraft there is a movement towards replacing the standard individual instrument displays with a LCD/CRT multifunction screen display. The difference is that the vital indicators are always displayed and the secondary indicators are customized to the user preference.
Could this not be the future of high performance motor cars?

On prototypes the BMW engineers have all that too. And their computers are running on a different OS.
But the shown picture here is a PS. You can easily tell, just by thinking about what car this is and what options it has.
