AlexFW at Alpina Headquarter!-imag0313.jpg

4.4i supercharged, 530 HP, 750 Nm the torque at 3500 rpm or so (the M5 520 at 5500 rpm) .

Only a word, guys : videogame!

I felt as when I used to play at Project Gotham Racing 2 on the first XBOX and modded the Enzo to reach 425 kmh at the Nurburgring, editing .ini files on the hard drive from the computer via LAN .

It isn't a car, it's a missile : nothing to do with the noisy and low torque V10 : our N62 B44 supercharged is a gem of engine!

It is astonishing powerful and at the same time absolutely *smooooooth* and silent!

You know the car, it's an E60: I can say only it is a little soft for my taste (and compared to my 545i with sport suspension and dynamic drive), but to travel at 250 kmh/155 mph for many kilometres it has to be softer .

For the rest it is a normal 5, iDrive, confort seats, stock steering wheel modified to host steptronic buttons in the back .
(Edit : limited slip differential is today available)

I drove it for about 70 km (45 miles) on the autobahn (highway) and I fired 20 litres (5 gallons US) of petrol , gently offered by Alpina .

When I arrived there I found drink & pastries and in 10 minutes I signed all documents to drive the car for 1.5 hours while they filled the car up with the full tank

Once on the Autobahn I played to accelerate as fast as possible.
After some minutes I had another E60 (530i or 530d, it's the same) in front of me on the left lane : when it was free again I accelerated and in about 20 metres (18 yards) I overtaken it at + 50 kmh compared to its speed .

The DSC lighted in third gear, ahaha!

I got a pair of videos, but the best is this one (0-200 kmh):

B5s_0_200.mov
( YT : http://snipurl.com/2ejrs )

EDIT : it starts in SECOND gear!!!!!!!! 14s in second gear!!

The limit was 70 kmh there, I was out of the highway : that route was so empty and straight that I thought to get a 0-100, but it was so fast that I let it to reach 200 kmh in a few seconds/metres .
The time is 'only' 15 seconds (the time of the M5) because I'm not skilled to use the steptronic, launching th car using the brake . One of you, steptronic users, would have done 14s or less .

Between my E60 and it there is the same difference I found between a Mini Cooper and a Mini CooperS .

This is the way to use it :

Coming back to the beginning of the 2005 .... Was the Alpina already released ?
Today I would get it instead of mine, but I didn't know if it existed .

Very kind people in Germany (at Alpina headquarter and the Dingolfing Plant too! - this will be another message), especially when you have a Bayerische Motoren Werke in Bavaria .

Ok guys, today I purpose to open the group buy for the supercharger
Just mailed ESS Tuning to ask if they have any news on it .

At the end is there any reason why couldn't we have 500-550 HP ?

thanks for sharing with us -- sounds like an awesome day out at Alpina

I just checked out the video of those guys in the Alpina B5 -- pretty crazy/stupid driving at times IMHO, but still impressive to see that car hit over 320km/h on the autobahn. The final picture showing the journey statistics is very amusing though... 790KM and they had to fill up 4 (-yes 4!!!) times The down side of a supercar hey, but obviously fuel consumption is not what the car is about!

Any more pics of the Alpina B5 S you were in? I would be interested to see the rear diffuser, looks different to the normal B5 diffuser.

I forgot to say they have been so kind that they called me the ticket office of an attraction I visited and they would like to reserve a guide in my language for me : "Good morning, here is Alpina: we have 2 customers bla bla, they will arrive in one hour" etc.

The difference with the M5 is that with the Alpina if you travel slowly you can have an acceptable consumption and autonomy .
If you push the pedal to the floor is right the car is thirsty: if you ask performance, only the fuel can give it .

In that video it was the B5, not the B5s that has +30 HP . The B5 did 322 kmh, the new .. who knows

This is a little better :

There I saw a man I spoken in Geneva 2007 with, Mr Kratz/kratzer (see the Alpina site) and I told the vendor "Is he Mr Kratz/Kratzer ?" and she (it was a woman, blonde, about 40yo : 20 years ago ... ) asked if I know him .
I talked with that man at Geneva Motorshow last year and I was told Alpina sells rims and bumpers but not the supercharger . And I think also the lip on the trunk lid .
Maybe that diffuser can be modified to host a quad exhaust .

We can't have "that" one, but we can supercharge our 545/550 with the ESS kit, when they will decide to release it .

I know only that ESStuning.com wants ?8000 for the 530i kit and for the V8 the price can't be lower .
My opinion is that it is a little too much and this is the reason why we will have to be a few customers gathered to obtain a good discount on the price we'll read on their site.
I will report possible news .

This is all well and good, but the real question is whether or not you received any citations for not using your front license plate while on this trip? I mean, geez, don't leave us hanging!

I put it on at the end . Because I often go to Switzerland (I'm at 50 km from the border with it) and CH is not EU, so there is the frontier with both polices .
If I will want to remove, the bodyshop gave me some black little cups to fill the holes .
