Boeing 747-400 is the most optimal solution (fuel economy vs. cargo load vs speed) for 3 decades. If anything could do better, Boeing already did it.

Maybe the 747-8i? The overall shape of the 747 family is much more elegant than the fat double decker. The only Airbus I like is the A340-600.

I agree with mic325, I have been an avid aviation enthusiast for years know, and the Boeing 747 has always been, and will always be my favorite aircraft. It has the most elegant shape around, and is one of the few aircraft that actually don?t look like a tube (due to it partial upper deck). And that?s why it looks so sleek and elegant.

Btw, I just did a quick headcount, and I have 16 Boeing 747 models in my room. Even after all these years I love to collect them!

But nonetheless, the A380 also looks impressive due to its sheer size.
