Exclamation

I guess it was my lucky day. Driving up the highway to Whistler with my V1 on, all of a sudden a cop comes around the corner and the V1 lights up. No time to do anything. It's a twisty mountain road so I guess the radar waves could not penetrate the granite walls and got zapped head on when he turned the corner. Sure enough, the cop u-turns and comes after me with the lights on.

He comes to the window and just says "108 in a 80 zone" shaking his head. Then he looks over the car, checks my tires (snow tires required) and heads back to his cruiser. So I'm waiting for him to come back with the ticket and the lecture, but he gives me a warning only and sends me on my way!!!!

My lucky day

Good one. Would well be worth it.

I am convinced that the majority of LEOs are decent people doing their job. Every once in a while.....

Those of us who lie to or confront the LEO are left holding the bag (and ticket).

Yeah, it restores my faith in people that the guy wasn't a dick. I really think that he looked at the situation and realized I wasn't a dick either and let me go. I was not driving like an DB, I was in the right lane, just rolling along, not passing anyone, etc. I was wearing a suit and was respectful - "yes sir, no sir". I also think he looked a the car and decided that I probably wasn't a road hazard, new snow tires, etc.

If I was driving an old Honda Civic with 4 mismatch, bald tires, two of which were clearly low on air, then 28kph would have been egregious and unsafe.
What I was expecting was one of those dicks who gives the maximum ticket and lectures you because you have a nice car and they don't...and that became a cop because they like to flex their muscle and power.

Like I said, fortunately he was a decent human being.
