Here's the deal. I will be taking a solo trip in the Bimmer. Boston to Mount Pleasant S.C. to visit a friend/client and consult on a project he's doing. 1007 mi each way. Map Quest says 16.5 hours door to door. They use about 62mph average. I'm thinking 13-13.5 is a little more to my liking, conditions permitting of course, safety a priority <_<

Pretty much straight down the east coast rt95 most ofthe way.

What's the longest you have driven the new e60 on a single trip, what was your speed average, how was the comfort level?

I went from here in NJ to Virginia, about 400 miles averaging around 55 mph. You'd like to average more and I was going 80-90+ for a good portion of the trip however you're bound to run into traffic.... especially around the DC area which kills the average, along with making you pissed!

Well, Germany is tiny compare to the US (It's smaller than some US states).
I've been driving it to Berlin what is about 600 Km's (375miles). Prety far for Germany. I've never been so relaxed and felt so good before.
Speed, well... 160 Km/h almost all the way, since it's Germany.
1007 miles each way sounds pretty far. That would take me all the way cross Europe...

I've taken her from London to Rome and back, which totals some 2200 miles. Not a problem, apart from overtaking caravanners on the French motorway. 150-50 mph in what felt like half a sec.

I would definitely take that trip again, but then, I'm an ex-truckdriver.

-edit- I drove straight to Rome, but didn't drive straight back naturally. That would be silly..

Longest trip in E60 has been about 850 in a day. No comfort problems. Driving solo and cruised 80 steady with bursts to 100-120 to break away from traffic. Averaged about 63.

Went from Tampa to Dallas one day with copilot (1 hour at the wheel) in E39 and no comfort problems. Took an hour nap while copilot drove. We averaged over 60 but don't remember what.

Made an eleven hour run once and averaged over 75, portal to portal. No mishaps, but after reflecting on the trip, decided not to ever do that again. I drove in some pretty heavy rain in S. Louisiana and experienced mild hydroplaning. Never lost any steering, but know that I must have been on the feathered edge. :'(

Last weekend I did 470 kms to and from Germany so a 1000 kms in total. It was a breeze no problem at all 1600 kms on the other hand would be difficult for me.. I would do it in two days if I were you just to be safe.
