It happened to me today. My X-Bbox 360 flashed the Ring of Death . Now, I am a$$ed out a X-Box for at least 3 weeks. I followed the story in the above link exactly. I asked them for some compensation. They offered me a free 1 month Gold Membership to X-Box live. Which means nothing, because I dont care for X-Box live. I also asked them for a free game as compensation. The operator paused for a while, and declined what I wanted. The operator stated that there form of compensation was 1 month of free X-Box live, and free shipping back and forth for this POS.
So now I have to package it and ship it out ASAP. The told me this process should take about 3 weeks. I will keep you guys posted on what happens.

I'd bet the "Red Ring of Death" phrase was taken from m5board.com and the "Red Cog of Death" seen with early SMG II failures on M5s.
I curently don't have any gaming consoles. Xbox 360 would be my last choice, simply because its Microsoft.
Good luck with the fix.

Had that problem. I just went out and purchased the Xbox 360 Elite. I called them to schedule it to be fixed under warranty. It takes like 3-4 weeks. I couldn't wait that long and Grand Theft Auto IV just came out at the time. So I have an extra Xbox 360 just collecting dust. Literally.

happened to me too....FYI, they give you a refurbished xbox 360 and not your own back, I had a sticker on my xbox and when they returned it back to me "fixed" the sticker was gone...not even a trace of it haha....took sooner than 3-4 weeks, it was about a week and a half
