RSyed there are many previous threads on this.....some raised by myself. To cut the long story short, I bought LHD mirrors for my RHD (previous) car in error. I had to replace it with the correct RHD versions. Contrary to popular belief, apart from the plastic housing, everything is different between RHD and LHD mirrors......the Body itself, and the mounting plate are different due to the fact that the passenger side mirror body has to be angled in towards the driver for correct visibility. This means the mounting plate is different, and because of the way the mirror body fits on to the mounting plate, it means the body is different too.
In actual fact I think the glass part of the mirrors are exactly the same.

Oh......and by the way, tilting the mirror a bit more is not really feasible........believe me if I could have lived with it I would have. As much as you try you can't get the passenger side mirror to angle in towards you enough, the angle of the mounting plate just does not allow it.

 

Tnx for letting me know. Like I said, the guys at CA Automotive in the UK were trying to sell me RHD mirrors for my LHD car and they meant that all i had to do was tilt it a bit more, whatever that meant. Luckily Doc was quick enough to setup this group buy otherwise I would today have had an order with CA Automotive

I upgrade my car with OEM //M5 mirrors [E39]

My car don't had the option auto folding and auto dimming EC.
I upgrade that, and everything works 100% you can see the pictures on my account.

What ANDY545 says is right, the mirror glas [EC] is elecrict from the back mirror inside the car.

I get 2 wires from my mirror inside the car, each side left and right to bring it to my //M5 mirror glass and connect them.
the same is for the autofolding function, i replace the button with an option for auto folding that is all.

The local bmw dealer sayd it will not work hihihi, i say it will 100% work :-)

Saturday by the meeting i will tell some guys how i did it, but it is verry simple.
