Yep, that's what's holding me too... BTW any idea how much is that AVR module cost anyway?

Maybe a dumb question
I have CDC but cant play MP3 in my head unit, i know it will require a visit to the dealer for programming,
but can i enable the MP3 function at the dealer before i go ahead with the Dension kit?

The reason behind that is because stealer in here tended not to do anything if you have the after market module fitted.

Mine is 10/2003 build car

I heard it was $190. Are you using the ACM / getting it? or are u using something else?

Hmmm... where to get it? Joe can get it?
No I don't have any ACM, one of the reason I jumped on GW500 'cuz of the future of AVR expandability back then...

I think you are actually set as of now, members nigxdoof & nelson29 can't play MP3 on their head unit and their car build around the same as yours, since you have CDC already no dealer re-programm required.

Yes he can.. =) PM Him.

From what i'm reading here, we still need to get a Video pass through to connect to the idrive screen. So the AVR just enables video control, but doesn't actually put video into the idrive.

So regardless we'll need an ACM module / similar hardware huh?

I think with Dension GW500, you don't need the mp3 capability. Since this unit emulates the CDC, making the car think it is just playing CDC tracks, it will work without any mp3 enabling.

Others can confirm this......

No, if I understand it correctly, an AVR unit WILL enable the video source to the idrive, just like an ACM. you will still need to provide the video like an external dvd player/video ipod/video files on usb etc. but once installed AVR unit along with a GW500, it will enable video on the idrive.
