I would recommend the BMW OEM ACM kit instead of Nav-TV. Its much better quality and its a BMW kit so warranty is not an issue.

Bruce, I think you should keep your opinion to yourself. NAV-TV is awesome product. I saw it first hand in another members car and its GREAT. The ACM unit is expensive (300 plus 300-500 installed) and is similar to NAV-TV its functions.

If everyone kept their thoughts to themselves this forum would be a very quiet place.

However there are too many people who have bought the NAV-TV unit only to upgrade to the BMW ACM unit later. Haven't heard of anyone who went the other way around. That and the warranty issues are what make me form a view.

Having said that I`m sure NAV-TV is a fine product. It does have a lot of things going for it over the ACM e.g. normal AV connectors, multiple AV switchable sources and the ability to be able to send the AV to different screens.

See this as another alternative to the NAV-TV http://www.doseongms.com/product/product01...rd=&search=

No takers...?? THE GW500 is the best investment I've made so far, so worth what Joe charges. It took a while to figure out the fiber optic, but Joe and John (installer) totally figured it out and made sure everything works the way it's suppose to. I use it with a 16 GB usb flash drive (fast search and play) , 2.5" HDD are great, but most are over 100 GB and it's a pain to load and wait for spin and buffer. Trust me, at this cost, if you have a pre-lci, this will sound better than AUX.

Wow....I've got to say that a lot of this thread comes across as Greek to me and probably others. A lot of potentially buyers may be getting a headache reading this thread.....as I am.

When it's all figured out.....what actually works, what doesn't and the prices and all.......can someone put out a summary or a new thread. I think a lot of people are looking for an Ipod hookup, but this thread confused the heck out of me. I would definitely be interested in something that provided a plug in for my IPOD and allowed me to use my OEM screen to select songs and playlists and all. I would like it to charge the IPOD for sure and allow my CD changer to remain useable too. Can something do that?

Thanks.

Bruce Miranda is correct, the GW500 allows users to use either an IPOD or USB drive to play music, however, the extender module is capable of showing video if

1. Using OEM screen and NAVTV
2. Using OEM screen and BMW ACM Module
3. Separate monitor mounted somewhere as a stand alone.

GW500 allows you to keep the CD Changer and its function with a flip of a switch.
GW500 will charge IPOD
GW500 allows users to select music using IDRIVE Screen.

Hope this helps, no flaming if I'm wrong.

Dension will release the new AVR extension module for Gateway 500 soon.
With that the Gateway 500 simulates TV-Tuner besides the CDC.
It has audio-video inputs for any source like DVD or reverse cameras. And outputs for OEM display + rear seat entertainment.

It also enables video output for new generation iPods like Classic, iPhone etc. and browse video content through i-Drive. Don't beleive me - I have to say that - but it will be really an awesome product. It has also built-in Video-in-Motion capability.

With the AVR wont you need to have the TV-Tuner installed in the car for it to simulate the TV signal on the MOST? The problem a lot of people will have is if their car doesnt have the TV Tuner then BMW will not code the option into the car.

Unless ofcourse you guys at Dension have worked out that the car does not need to have the TV option enabled for this to work. i.e. the TV Tuner signal is accepted on the MOST even without the option being coded on the car.

Can't wait for the AVR. I see you have it on the front page of your website along with the new Bluetooth module, however please note that both links to the pictures are incorrect.

We installed a Dension GW500 in member Chris's (Breae60) 530. It was such a nice piece, I had to order one for myself.

MODEL: Gateway 500 (PN: GW51M02)
FITS: 04-07 BMW 5-Series (E60)
MSRP: $500

* Head unit MUST be MP3 Compatible and CD Changer enabled in Head unit

If there's interest, here's what I can do for pricing:

$439 = 1-5 people
$399 = 6-10 people
$359 = 11+ people

$40 extra for the AV Extender (PN: IVE1000) which allows you to watch iPod videos on your OEM display

* Above are "out-the-door" prices--PayPal and shipping fees included (to 48 states). If you're in SoCal, you're welcome to pick it up. And if you're in need of install, we can do it for $45.

Anyone interested?
