Guys,
I spoke to Eloy this afternoon --great guy  . He needs a a few V8 volunteers located in SoCal and willing to get fitted with the RPI scoop. He simply needs to know if it will fit as is, or if modifications are necessary. I know there's nation-wide interest in this, but I'm located in Texas, and it's too far to drive for me. :| So I was wondering if I can have 3 volunteers:
I would really appreciate your help. Please PM me if you're available and interested. :help: I'll go ahead and start out a list of interested V8 folks (In case it works out for us):

what exactly is the rpi scoop? what does it claim to do?

The ram air intake (rpi scoop + air intake) works by reducing the intake air velocity by increasing the cross sectional area of the intake ducting. When gas velocity goes down the dynamic pressure is reduced while the static pressure is increased. The increased static pressure in the plenum chamber(A chamber, located between the throttle body and the runners of an intake manifold, used to distribute the intake charge evenly and to enhance engine breathing.) has a positive effect on engine power, both because of the pressure itself and the increased air density this higher pressure gives. :geek: |

Great! So far, I've got:
Thanks Guys! One more volunteer needed. I'll give RPI a ring tomorrow to find out more details. I'll keep you posted. We still need a pre-LCI 550i. :help: For everyone who's interested in this purchase round, it will be $100 for the RPI scoop (our cars only need one). Keep in mind that RPI normally sells the Z4 scoop for $129. This is a great deal for us v8 owners. For those who are still interested, please updated the list with your v8 model and if it's a 550i (pre or LCI model),
thanks! |

Hey MacFly, do they have scoops available for our cars already? Did Eloy custom fit yours? |

I will call Eloy tomorrow to set up for mon or tues. :)
Sorry, pretty busy this week! Tom |
Alright guys, just got back from RPI, The scoop from the M5 fits perfectly for the 545 :D
Got mine put in while i was there and took the longer way back to work  , There is definitely some difference after 50mph on the freeway and once you cross 70 the throttle response is completely different from before. Also one thing i noticed was that it was holding the rpms better after 70mph and if you shift down like calton mentioned make sure you have open road ahead of you because it just takes off. I have to get a V1 now  Eloy is giving 40% off for the test fitters and he said the 545 single scoop will be up on the website for $99 |
if it's not too late i can do it even leave my car there for a couple days if necessary.
|
you are late by 1hr :P , the 545 test fit has been completed.
|
oh well. :)
