Mine arrived today too ... tried to tackle install w/o removing the headlights but I guess my paws are too large! Even with a pair of long-nosed pliers it's a no-go. Looks like I'll be grabbing a couple of hours to tackle this over the weekend.
I went the route of removing the headlights for my install this afternoon. Took about 15 min each side. Toughest part was setting the new lamp into the socket and making sure the square tab is aligned with the cutout on the socket. I didn't pay attention on the driver side and pulling it out after it was set in was a bear. There really isn't any spare working room in that area. It would have been considerably easier if BMW had shifted the round cover lower in the housing. Even 1/2 inch more finger room would have made a world of difference.
That said they're really WHITE and Bright. And the assembly is extremely well made.
But I'm embarrassed to say that the front of my car is so dirty (so is the rest of it) I will wait to take pictures until after I get time to wash it!
The fog's will have to wait until next weekend!

Got mine yesterday. What a pain in the ass to install. I tried putting them in without removing the headlight using long nose pliers. I got them in, but I think they still need a little tightening. I will remove the headlight today and tightnen them. I must say they do look great. Does anyone know if they are supposed to flicker/strobe on start up, because mine do...
I have the same year / model e60 as you. I saw no flicker at start-up but then I've not stood in front of the car immediately on start-up. There are no warning lights ...
I do agree about the tight working quarters. Removing the headlights made it easier but someone with small, but long, strong fingers would = the ideal installation tool.
