Hey all, new member to the forum. Thanks for having me.
I did search the forums to find the information I'm looking for prior to posting, so I'm sorry if this is already discussed in detail elsewhere!
New to me owner of a 2020 BMW 530i Xdrive G30. While at the car wash a few weeks ago, the attendant (short woman) drying my car stepped on what she thought was the driver seat to dry the roof and moonroof and stepped on the diver side trim with the seat controls and broke the front bracket behind it. Of course it was denied by all, so I purchased the parts myself, and was wondering if someone had some guidance on how this replacement is performed? This is my first BMW, and some folks tell me they are built well, but harder to repair - not sure what that means exactly. I posted a photo below of the broken trim panel.
Any advice/help (photos, guides, instruction, etc.) will be much appreciated!
this is not the exact car but it’s pretty close. Note that the bracket is riveted on, so you’ll need a rivet gun. I got the bracket on eBay for $30 and the rivet gun on Amazon for about the same. Note that you need large flange rivets and make sure you put some plastic down so you don’t get metal shavings in the car. This is easily a $500 repair at BMW.
